Indian nationals do not require a visa. However, effective from October 1, 2000, Indians travelling to Nepal by air have to show on arrival at the entry point either a passport or voter’s card issued by the election commission of India or any identity card with the photograph issued by the central or state government of India. Temporary identity card with photograph issued by Nepal – based Indian diplomatic missions for the identification of Indian nationals will also be considered in case of exceptions. Children under 10 years need not show any identification.

Visa can be obtained either on arrival in Nepal or from embassy of Nepal.

Varahakshetra
Varahakshetra, located at the confluence of the Saptakoshi and Koka rivers, is 20 km away from a town in eastern Nepal - Dharan. Situated at the naturally beautiful premises on the foot hill of Churiya Mahabharat Parbat and by the bank of the great Sapta Koshi river, Varahakshetra is among the four great Hindu pilgrimages in Nepal. It is a remote village, the authentical place of Sri Varaha Avataram. Here, the -Varaha, an incarnation of Lord Vishnu is said to have to killed demon Hiranakshaya. Apart from the main shrine dedicated to Varaha, there are many other temple with images of the Varaha is Varahakshetra. A huge number of devotes from Nepal and India come here to perform obsequies rite and burry the ash into the river Koka after burning the deceased, for they believed it to be holy and virtuous deed. Varahakshetra is not merely a pilgrimage but one of the best sight-seeing places in the region.
